How Often Do You Need To Clean Your Beanbag?
Most people think that cleaning a beanbag is difficult. The common belief is that you always have to hand wash the beanbag or else the fillers will spill.
The truth is, a beanbag is the easiest kind of furniture to wash! And once you get the knack of it, it can actually take you less than an hour to clean a full-size beanbag.
How do you clean different kinds of beanbags?
When it comes to washing beanbags, the first thing that you must have are removable covers. These removable covers are sometimes sold separately but they’re essential.
Removable covers don’t just protect your beanbags from dust, danders, and other dirt, but they also make regular cleaning easier. This is because almost all kinds of removable covers are washer-ready.
Each kind of removable cover has a designated cleaning method. If you always follow this, your cover can last up to 5 years.
The most common kind of beanbag cover is cotton. You can clean this type of cover through washers. You can use either cool or warm water as long as you air dry before putting it back onto your beanbag.
For covers made of vinyl, plush, and velvet, you should find out if they’re compatible with washers or not. If they aren’t, you can just clean your cover with a damp cloth (preferably warm) soaked in liquid detergent or soap water.
On the other hand, if you have a suede cover, you should brush them regularly with a loose metal suede comb. This will keep dust and dander off your beanbag.
Lastly, you should regularly wipe leather covers with a damp cloth and wash them with a leather conditioner every three months.
How often do you need to clean a beanbag?
Like with every piece of furniture in your house, the cleaning of your beanbag depends on how you use it.
If you spot stains on your beanbag, it’s best to wash them immediately. Once a stain is left uncleaned, it would be hard to remove over time. The same goes when you accidentally spilled a beverage in your beanbag. When disregarded, it can lock in moisture to your beanbag that may cause a bad odor.
On the other hand, if you use your beanbag properly and only have to deal with regular dust and dander, you should wash your beanbag cover at least three times a year.
It’s highly recommended that you don’t exceed five times a year when cleaning your beanbag cover. This is because frequent washing of any fabric, be it cotton or suede, will affect the fibers and threads of the cover. As long as you keep your beanbag in a clean and dry place, then you’re good.
Still afraid of the cleaning process of beanbags? Don’t be. While they sure look different from other furniture, their required cleaning processes aren’t.
Furthermore, it’s nothing compared to the comfort beanbags can offer.
